‘MAHAGAMI’, Mahatma Gandhi Mission Sangeet Academy, Aurangabad was established in 1993 as a gurukul of Indian Classical Music and dance. As the horizon was rediscovered during its artistic journey of 13 years, MAHAGAMI redefined its existence as a center for promotion, dissemination and training of arts. A member of the International Dance Council, UNESCO, MAHAGAMI Gurukul forms a unique synthesis of the modern technological educational aids and the intense and value based training system of the ancient gurukuls. In the past decade, around 180 art events involving some of the renowned artists of this period have been organized by MAHAGAMI in addition to imparting training to over 400 students of Pakhawaj, Dhrupad, Kathak, Odissi based on Guru-shishya Parampara. The vibrant annual calendar of MAHAGAMI pulsates with performances of the students and Gurus.

INFRASTRUCTURE:
The lush green MAHAGAMI campus is a self-sufficient art center with facilities for not just conducting the classes but also concerts, workshops, baithaks, etc. The campus itself stands as a sacred place for learning and assimilating the values of the time honored guru shishya parampara. Mahagami gurukul, amidst the harmony of nature provides with Research library for art seekers, open air stage with capacity for 350, baithak hall for the informal baithaks and in house programs with capacity of 200, sadhanalay (class rooms), parna kuti (the dining space), green rooms and administrative office. Recently MAHAGAMI has started an art pavilion, kriti-kon, where an art seeker can come across different work of arts, which could cater to his aesthetic needs. The inspirational campus facilitates development of a deeper insight among all the students and art seeker towards the profound aspects in arts.

Activities:
Within a short span of five years the college organized number of programs for the benefit of students.
The “Rang Rekha” a representative body of the students, is constituted by the college, which is devoted to educational, cultural and sports activities. Under its aegis, we organized lectures by experts, demonstrations, exhibitions, film shows, seminars and sports activities for the proper development of students’ personality.
The college organized Annual Painting Exhibition on 3rd March, 2004, in which the college students presented their paintings. The exhibition was organized in the MGM Art Gallery. It was inaugurated at the auspicious hands of Shri A.N.Kadam and Prof. Umakant Salunke. The said exhibition was witnessed by number of persons and the response was good. |

Admission Procedure:
Interviews in June and July every year are conducted for candidates above 7 yrs of age. Students with prior background in any art form will be given preference.
