Priyadarshini Udyan

Priyadarshini Udyan was a breakthrough in the journey of MGM. It was one of the most challenging tasks, when the authorities of CIDCO proposed MGM to develop the uneven land as a green belt in the underdeveloped zone of the city.
In 1986, MGM took possession of this land which is spread over 7.00 hectares. To develop this barren land was an uphill task which required tremendous hard work and patience and what we see today is a lush Green island in the city.
More then five thousand trees of common and rare varieties were planted as saplings, which have grown into big trees.  It is worth noting that eminent nature activists, environmentalists and dignitaries make it a point to visit Priyadarshini Udyan. Shri Sundarlalji Bahuguna is one of the distinguished visitors of the Udyan.
In December 1997, Shri Ankushraoji Kadam, the Secretary of the MGM Trust, who took great efforts to create greenery and encourage tree plantation, was praised by many renowned experts from the field of environmental studies. The Ex-President of India Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma honoured him with an International Environment Award as a gesture of appreciation.
The garden is open to all, and is a popular attraction, especially for children and senior citizens of the city.  It provides a generous space for children to play different games and has a jogging track for health and fitness conscious people. MGM is now planning to set up poly house for medicinal plants to extend its contribution towards preservation and protection of the environment.
